ONE! One More Day!
HAH HAH HAH!!
(You have to think -- or speak -- like The Count, on Sesame Street. You know, he counts things and then says HAH HAH HAH!! Okay, I'm done now. Ahem.)
Had quite the day today. My film debut was a little bit eh; it was not the film class's best effort, which is a surprise because there are such talented kids in it this year, but that's how it goes. The sound wasn't good. I have to get a copy on DVD and listen to it at home, rather than standing in the back of the auditorium. And then I entered software-conversion hell.
These other two librarians and I were at it from about 8.30 untiil 2.00, encountering one glitch and/or brick wall after another. We were following the directions and doing what they told us to do on Wednesday. But at about 2.00, our district tech guy realized what we were doing and had us just come to his office, read him the directions, and then he did everything remotely. They had also told us to go through a difficult step for each of the three schools that he had already done. This implentation phase really sucks, but the program itself, one's it up and running, is very user friendly and we're looking forward to having it. But it was a loooong day today.
And tomorrow is the actual last day of school, a half day, with graduation at night. Looks like I'm going to have some kind of issue with seniors who haven't returned or paid for stuff yet, as there are still lots of them. Usually by this time I'm down to 15 or 20, and they all pay before the end of the day, hours before graduation. At the moment, I've got over 40, so my mission for tomorrow is to track them down, which I do first thing when they're all at graduation practice, and then wait for them to clear it up, which they need to do between the end of practice, around 10.30, and 2.30, when everybody's gone for the day until coming back at night. I'm not hopeful. The consequences are not good.
And then Friday, I'm not really there on the school's dollar, so to speak, that is, not doing any high school work, which I hope to have all finished tomorrow. Although it doesn't matter, since I'll be there anyway for the software conversion meeting, I can hand in my final checkout sheet Friday, I guess. And I can sleep late, or more likely, try to Walk Away Some Pounds when I get up. I don't have to be at this meeting on Friday until 9.00. I'll see how it goes.
And that's all the news that's fit to print, today, Friday, June 20, 2007.
