And Now It's Monday

My head is very messed up over this vacation/not-vacation thing; I can't get a handle on it. Do I start my vacation things? But I went to work today. You know, it's not nice to confuse an obsessive-compulsive. We don't deal with it well.

Today's workshop actually did go very well. The instructor is out here from Chicago, and was lovely, really, and we all enjoyed a pleasant lunch together. The SCM was his usual peculiar. First, he came dressed for yardwork, if that, in cut-offs and white sweat socks (pulled up), and also did his typical disappearing act when it was time to go. We were supposed to be there from 8.00 to 3.00, with an hour for lunch, which we took somewhat flexibly. Was it a 60 minute lunch hour? I have no idea. Anyway, at about three minutes to 3.00, the SCM mumbled something next to me and then he was gone. I almost look for the cartoon cloud of smoke he leaves behind. A minute later, one of the other librarians, seated in the row in front of us, turned around to ask him something and said to me "Where is her? He left? When?" Because that's the way he is.

The funny thing is, my neck is very sore and stiff from sitting at a computer screen all day like a student. Makes you appreciate the way the other half lives, so to speak. Sleeping tonight would be a good thing.

It's getting hot again. The little weather-thingy I have at the bottom of my browser window is showing a burning hot red thermometer for Wednesday, with a predicted temp of 94. (Which my handy conversion site says is about 34 in C.) Today was somewhere in the 80s, and we're starting to pick up that fine New Jersey summer humidity. Ahhhhh.

Okay, I've got to put my head down somewhere. Oh, and that cool series on the history of art is on the public TV channel tonight, Caravaggio, I believe. So that should solve my sleep dilemma, at least from 10.00 to 11.00.

  2. I wore a sweatshirt all day today because it was just so damn cold in the house. It got all the way up to 66ยบ today. I really wanted to turn on the heat to get the chill out of the air, but I feel weird turning the HEAT on in June! It'll be July next week, for cryin' out loud! I know I'll be missing the lack of humidity when I show up to Rhode Island in a couple of months....
