Musically Inclined
I'm having a particularly musical week, for me. I do love and enjoy music, but I rarely have the opportunity to listen to it for chunks of time. When I'm home, especially alone, I prefer to have the TV on because it gives me the illusion that there's someone else in the house. Even so, I got the new Paul McCartney album last week, which I still need to get used to, and the other day I downloaded the new Elivis Costello. I'm getting used to that, too.
Last night, I downloaded two Joss Stone songs, and I really liked them when I listened this morning, so I just downloaded her first album. Who knew. And K made me two mix CDs of mostly artists I've never heard of, to give me a taste of what's new now. All I have to do is make the time to listen to it all.
In the meantime, one of the new sites I've discovered is Strange Maps, and their map of the day today, oddly, fits my little musical theme. If you look at the northeast part of New Jersey on this map, I'm located, more or less, between the two "L"s in "Mansion on the Hill."
I hope that we've passed through the worst of the whole software conversion process at work, because the new software is installed and in place, and all we have left is being trained on it, as opposed to one stupid meeting after another to get it set up. (Which, by the way, they didn't do exactly to our specs; I'm so surprised.) But I did get to play on it for about five minutes this afternoon, and it's really good.
Somehow, I did get the sense of being on vacation today, despite being at school at 8.00 this morning, until 11.00, and then going back from 1.30 to 3.30. I slept a little later and was home for a long lunch. Monday and Tuesday will be two long days at school, but I don't think it'll be that bad.
The question is, when do I start doing what I do when I'm on vacation? K asked me before how many doctors I was going to next week, and I told her two. I always start a vacation by getting doctors' visits out of the way. The other thing I usually do right away is get the house in order. I didn't get the chance today, and it feels weird to do it on weekend when I can do it any weekend! But I may start tomorrow. I have no other plans. I really must get to see a movie this weekend, though, any movie, just to test out the hearing aids.
More tomorrow from the tidy Mouse House.

HAPPY SUMMER VACATION! ENJOY!
ReplyDeleteI love Elvis Costello - and he's married to another fave: Diana Krall. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI looooooooooooooove Paul McCartney. I blame my ex boyfriend, an Iranian by way of Canada. He was obsessed, and he passed it on to me, pretty much the only thing I have left from that relationship. In your opinion is the new CD worth buying? I was thinking about it...
ReplyDeleteMy Grandparent's house is near "My Father's House" and the rest of my family lives in a spot I can't label. I miss New Jersey.
