Huh? Two?
I haven't had a two-entry day in ages, but I wanted to share two articles with you. I forgot to post the first one before, and I just saw the second one now.
First, this. It's a wonderful article about my #1 nephew from the actual San Diego newspaper. It's a good picture of him, too. (Jefferson Jay is his stage name, btw.) I know San Diego is a very big place, but have any of you out there ever heard of him?
Second article is this. The FBI honored Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. So I have to ask: what the hell were they waiting for? His show about the FBI went off the air in 1974! He's 91 years old! They couldn't have done this, say, 35 years ago?
Anyway, it's time for me to share my FBI story with you. First, look at the article and see what Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. looks like at 91. And then imagine him in his forties, tan and fit, having just finished a run in a very hot TV show called 77 Sunset Strip. Okay.
The culmination of my years as a Girl Scout was going to be a trip to Washington, DC. We planned for and raised money for it for years. We went during our spring vacation when we were in sixth grade, so that was .... la la la ... 1965. Our main troop leader, whom I now realize was a fiendishly organized woman, had arranged a million stops for us during the four days we were there. One of these was a tour of the FBI. It was a very cool tour, actually; we saw agents on the target range and they gave us spent shells as souvenirs. (I still have mine, but you knew that.) Anyway, we were crowded into a hallway -- there must have been 35 girls in the troop on the troop, along with six or seven mothers -- and suddenly before us was Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. He could not be mistaken for anyone else. We were eleven, and we knew who he was. Our mothers must have had quite the adult reaction to him; he was really an unbelievably handsome man.
Anyway, we came home and told everyone, and everyone said "Well, it must have been someone who looked like him, what would Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. be doing at the FBI?" And then the next September, the show started up, so we realized he had been there researching the role, or whatever they do.
So that's my story. Two celebrities I have encountered in my life, both linked from this very page.
